Mount Damavand is located in about 80km to the northeast above Iran’s capital city of Tehran. July, August and September are the best for this mountain.
It is the highest volcano peak in Asia. It was nationally registered as the first natural heritage in 2008. This unique and significant volcano peak has a special place in Iranians literature, folklore and mythology. There are four main and common routes to climb Mount Damavand. The four common routes are South, West, North and the NE route. On this tour, the climbing route is from the south and start from the Polur city.

On a more physical trip like this, hiking boots are definitely recommended. In most of the trip hiking boots or sneakers/runners will be adequate. Many Intrepid treks will be hiking in near freezing environments in winter, so please be sure to research the climate and weather conditions at the time of year you will be trekking and pack accordingly.

On our camel trekking trips we provide the tent and sleeping mats, but you will need to bring your own sleeping bag and mat.
